Privacy policy.
How we collect, use and protect personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Last updated: 30 October 2026.
1. Who we are
The Walsall Awards are organised by Red Carpet Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16758717 (opens Companies House in a new tab)), whose registered office is Radio House, Aston Road North, Birmingham B6 4DA. Red Carpet Ltd is the data controller for the personal data collected through this website and in running the Walsall Awards.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@walsallawards.co.uk.
2. What we collect and why
Nominations
When you submit a nomination, we collect:
- Your name, email address and, if you give them, your phone number and company
- The nominee’s name and, where given, their organisation, email address, website, social media link and photograph
- The category and your reasons for the nomination
We use this to process the nomination, to share it with the judging panel for assessment, and to tell the nominee they have been nominated. Judges see what was said about a nominee, never who said it: they do not see nominators’ names or contact details. Photographs sent with a nomination are seen only by the organisers and the judging panel, and are never published.
Our lawful basis for your details as nominator is your consent, which you give when you tick the consent box on the nomination form. For the nominee’s details, which a nominator gives us, it is our legitimate interest in running the awards. A nominee who would rather not take part can ask us to remove their details at any time.
Finalists
A finalist’s name is published on this website for the public vote. If you are a finalist and send us a photo or logo, we show it beside your name, with your consent, which you give when you upload it. You can replace or remove it at any time from your finalist link, or by emailing us.
Public vote
When you vote, we collect your full name, your email address, the finalists you chose, the IP address and browser you voted from, and the wording of the box you ticked and when you ticked it. We use your email address to make sure each person votes once per category, and the IP address to spot and remove abuse of the vote; our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in running a fair public vote. As you agree when you vote, we also use your name and email address to send you occasional updates and event announcements from Walsall Awards and Red Carpet Ltd; our lawful basis for this is your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of those emails, or by emailing info@walsallawards.co.uk. We do not share your choices with the finalists, and vote totals are seen by the organisers only.
Tickets and tables
When you book, we collect your name, email address, phone number and, if you give it, your company, along with the names of your guests if you add them, and the tickets you bought. We use this to process your booking, manage the guest list and seating, and contact you about the evening. Our lawful basis is the contract you enter into when you book.
Dietary requirements are optional. Because they can reveal information about health (such as an allergy) or religion, we ask for them only so that you and your guests can be catered for. By giving them you agree to us using them for that purpose and sharing them with the venue’s caterers. If you give details for your guests, please make sure they are happy for you to do so. You can ask us to remove them at any time.
Payments
Online ticket and table purchases are processed by Stripe Payments UK Ltd. When you proceed to checkout, you are taken to Stripe’s secure payment page. We never see or store your card details. Stripe collects your name, email address, billing address and card details to process the payment, in line with its own privacy policy. We keep the transaction reference, amount, ticket type, your email and the payment status in our records.
Sponsorship enquiries
For sponsorship enquiries, we collect your name, email address, phone number, organisation and any message you send, and use them to respond and to discuss a package with you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you have made.
Contact form
If you contact us through the contact form, we collect your name, email address and anything else you choose to tell us, and use them to reply to you. We only send you news about the Walsall Awards if you have opted in to hear from us.
Judges
For members of the judging panel, we hold their name, email address, sign-in records and the choices they make, to run the judging. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running the awards.
Technical data
Our forms record the IP address and browser of the person submitting them, for security and to prevent abuse. Our web host also keeps standard server logs for the same reason.
3. Who we share data with
We share personal data only where necessary:
- With the judging panel, to assess nominations (without nominators’ details)
- With the venue, Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, and its caterers, for the guest list and dietary requirements
- With the services that run this website for us: our UK web host, which also sends our emails; Stripe, which processes payments; and Google Fonts, which supplies the site’s typefaces and so receives your IP address when a page loads
- Where we are required to by law
We do not sell personal data. Where a provider processes data outside the UK (Stripe and Google may do so in the United States), the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards.
4. How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for:
- Nominations, finalist photos, public vote records, guest lists and dietary requirements are used only for the 2026 awards and are deleted once they are no longer needed after the awards evening
- Payment and transaction records are kept for as long as the law requires for company accounts
- We keep your details to send you news about the Walsall Awards only if you have opted in, and only until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop
You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing info@walsallawards.co.uk.
5. Cookies
We use only essential cookies needed to keep this site working. See our cookie policy for details.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Receive a copy of data you gave us in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email info@walsallawards.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
